FARMERS WILL NOT TOLERATE BOTH TAXES
LAND AND INCOME. RESOLUTIONS BY CONFERENCE HOSPITAL RATING. WELLINGTON, This DayThe Fanners' Union yesterday carried a motion with a few dissentjients that the farmers of the Dominion would not tolerate both land and income tax being imposed at the same time. It was also decided that the conference asked the Government to convene a. conference of representatives of organisations dealing with, and affected by hospital finance with a view to determining a more equitable basis of hospital rating; that the conference deprecates the action of the Primo Minister in increasing the rale of wages for relief workers, thereby making it more attractive to unskilled labour, with the result that it is driving men away from other occupations, and accentuating the unemployment problem; that in the event of any war involving this nation, mobilisation shall extend not only to human life, but to all resources and the machinery for this purpose be designed at once. This ]a/tter was canned by one vote.
