Huikai, King Wanga and Tea Ivady may carry most support in the Plying Handicap, si'x furlongs. Seven have, accepted, for the Gisborne Steeplechase about 3 miles, and four have been accepted for the Tramway Steeplechase. Garon and Highway may be the public’g fancies on the machine. Mangaharei, Malahat and Kinsel are sure to have plenty of friends in ’the Hack Handicap, G furlongs. If Roy Heather, Woden and Bendower go to the post in the Tramway Steeplechase, two miles, they will have plenty of support. The Winter ■ Oat s has drawn a field of seven. Queen’s Choice, Thursby and Superb King are a likely trio t 0 run prominently.
SOUTH CANTERBURY MEETING. The South Canterbury Jockey Club races will be held to-morrow (Thursday). The acceptances are good and everything points to a successful gathering. Elysianor, Lancer and Gala Day may be the public choice in the pukaki Hurdles, U miles. Airplane and El Boa may cany most support in the Novice Handicap, five furlongs. , v , Eight are carded for the Prince Edward Handicap, 1 mile 35 yards, king Balboa, Fairy Herald and Town Bank are sure to run prominently. . Fabriano’g second to King Guarfi in the Wellington Steeplechase, will not be forgotten and should be the favourite in the Wai-iti Steeple chase, 2J miles. Lord Ronald vnll have some support. j Red Boa, Sweet Refrain / and Grand Acre should run prominently in the Temuka Handicap, si£ furlongs. 1 Kapuna, Radiac and Hyperioh will be suited by the distance ( in the Craigmore Hack steeplechase. Membo, Haze and Phastar like ' ly to run prominently in the Beaconsfield. Hack Handicap,! 1 1-4 miles. ¥ Taboo, Solferite and First Raid may carry some friends in the Seadown Handicap, six furlongs, HERE AM) THERE. Yoma has gone into Trainer Hunt’s stable. Bright Glow leaves for Australia in about a, fortnight’s time. iChickwheat has been sold to a West Coast sportsman. His new owner is also the owner of ex-Strat-ford Tip Tree. ‘ King Fame is among the regular workers at Te Rapa. The King Lupin gelding is being got ready for the Pakuranga fixture. ' Mervette is back on the tracks at Te Rapa. The Awapuni trainer, L. Knapp, purposes taking Otairi, Home Made and Atareria to Riccarton, all three of whom are in good order. The hurdler Star Shell is ported to be putting, plenty of, life into bis work at Awapuni. Keddar is again in the active ranks at Awapuni. EARTHQUAKE RELIEF MEETING AUCKLAND, Last Night. The Auckland Trotting Club has decided to hold! a special race meeting in. aid of the earthquake refief fund on August 31. A programme of seven events has been drawn up. The stakes amount to £IB2O. The principal race, the Westport Handicap, will cany a stake' of £-500 and a cabinet of cutlery and crystal valued at £35, donated by A. Kobo, Ltd. ' The Nelson District Handicap, for trotting horses only, will, carry a stake of £3OO and a cabinet of crystal valued at £4O, presented hy Walker and Hall, Ltdl, ' NEW ZEALANDERS AT SYDNEY.
