APPRECIATION
AVON CLUB SECRETARY.
MR BETTS RETIRES. Members of the Avon Bowling. Club last night resolved that appreciation be recorded on the minutes of th» services of Mr H. LI. Betts, who is retiring fiom the position of secretary. in a few well chosen words, the president, Mi’ J. Masters, expressed his indebtedness to Mr Betts. • Mr R. H. White said that Mr Betts had done a, great deal of work in his position as secretary, but he had also done very much in the way of beautifying the grounds. Personally, he did not know how the. 'club could have 1 succeeded if it had not had. such a capable secretary. Mr G. 15. Woods said his term on. the committee had convinced .him of. Mr Betts’ capabilities. Mr C, Jackson - also spoke. Mr Betts could feel assured that in retiring he was honoured by all the members of the club, Mr Betts thanked, members for their appreciative remarks. He had done, his best for the club. He had been secretary, of the'Avon Club for ten years; It was ten years of really hard work, and before that he had been secretary of the Stratford Club' for seven years. He was proud ot his connection with the Avon Club. During his term as secretary therehad been 136 meetings, and he had j not missed one meeting. He thought he could sa.y without egotism that lie had filled tile bill. He retired with | regret, but felt that he must ease oif. on work.
