MEDICAL SERVICES
WORK OF SIR B. ROSS. RUGBY, June '22. A triennial gold medal for distinguished (medical services was presented last night to Sir Ronald Ross for his discoveries and work in connection with malaria by ihe West London Medical and Chimrgical Society. S(ir Ronald Ross, who is 72 years of age, was too ill ito speak, and after receiving the niedal was helped t,'o walk from the hall. Dr. Sanguinetti, who made the presentation, said that although Sir Ronald was the author of a tremendous medical discovery, it was certainly not a money-mak-ing one for him. In fact, he would have done better for himself had ne discovered a new hoot polish or something of that kind. It was, however, invaluable to humanity. Sir Ronald Ross’ researches so depleted his resources that he was compelled last November to sell the archives relating to malaria discoveries for £2OOO.
