HUIROA SPORTS
SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. Tiiere was a splendid attendance at the annual Huiroa sports, held on Mr F. Mitchell’s property on Thursday, and the entries were good. It was the most successful meeting yet held by the club, in a financial sense, and the committee should, as a result, b e m credit to the extent of £3O or' £4O. The ■weather was perfect, and the condition of, the track was a distinct credit to those responsible. The secretary, Mr W. H. Wallace, and his assistant, Mr J. Reid, had everything in good order, and the.lengthy programme was got off well to time. Officials for the day were as follows ; Running: Handicappers, Messrs J. A. Hansen and J. Shotter; judges, Messrs J. R eid an(i Wilmshurst; starter, Mr L. Francis. Chopping: Time-keeper, Mr W. Me Coard; block steward, Mr R. H. Wickham; handicapper and judge, Mr E. Bichsteadt. Horse events. Judge’ Mr W. Christie. Results were as follows; RUNNING.

There was a packed attendance at the dance held in the school in the evening, and a most enjoyable time was spent. Messrs R. Murphy and H. Read acted as M’s.C. and Mrs J. Reid supplied the music.
