MINISTER OF INTERNAL AFFAIRS

VISIT TO STRATFOKD. ON MONDAY AFTERNOON. The Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. P\ A. do la Perelle, who is accompanied by his two sons and Mr P. J. Kalaugher, chief inspector of totalisators, is at present on a tour of Taranaki, for the purpose of inspecting racecourses. H e is due to arrive at Sfrat'ord about 3 P.m. on Monday, and on arrival he will he tendered a civic reception at the Borough Council Chamber. forwards he will pay a visit to the Stratford racecourse. The Minister will spend the night at Stratford, leaving for Wellington by train on Tuesday. At Waverley yesterday the Minister was met by.a deputation from the Waverley Racing Club, who asked for a permanent permit instead of the loaned one held at present. A sympathetic reply was given, the Minister saying that he intended to see as many courses as possible, with a view to making some recommendation to the Racing Conference.

Mr de la Fertile arrived at Hawera last nfeht and to-day was present at the Hawera races. He goes on this evening to New Plymouth, where he will spend the Aveek-eml. On Monday he inspects the New Plymouth and Opunake racecourses, coming on in the afternoon to Stratford. -
