J.. Poison, and vras ho the effect that the 9|d 111 rate on the Central Riding of ’.he County consisted of til in the £ rate for metalling the Whanga Road, andT consequently 3H of a General Rote. o . JTowi Sir, as & conunitte©, was pointed to draw up a report on this and, other matters relating to tne deterioration of the back .country of Taranaki for transmission to the Minister of Agriculture, it is important that the correct, rating should be given, and voted by^Jhis committee* The Central Riding is bearing a gravel rate of 9* in the £ in addij tion to which there are special rate* for bridges and metalling. ; In connection \nST the settlers of the Whanga Road mentioned by Mr Kennedy, those fanners are faced with a general rate, of 9jd in the '•£, a jbridge rate of |d in the £, a small -rate on the main Ohura Road, and a special rat© on the Whanga Hoad, metal working out at over zi 3 i n the £, making a total of 2s in the £ rates.
