Dr. Steven, who was recently laid aside by illness, lias now resumed duty. Miss Elgar has been appointed acting-secretary of all bodies of which the late Mr A. J. Bart was secretory.
Mr J. Scrimgconr (New Plymouth) was last night elected president of the Taranaki Referees' Association, Mr R. P. Harkness being elected vicepresident. Mr F. W. Webb (New Plymouth) was elected a life member of the Association.
For the twenty-first year in succession Mr A. Lees was, on Wednesday, re-electted president of the Okaiawa Football Club. Returninf thanks, Mr Lees said he was prepared to retire whenever members wished, but he would be pleased to complete his majority as president.
Mr H. C. Taylor,of Ngaere, yesterday tookNjis seat at the 'New Plymouth Harbour Board meeting for the first time, having been appointed to represent the Stratford and Whangamomena County Councils, in succewion to the late Mr J McCluggage. In acknowledging the welcome extended by the chairman, Mi- C. E. Bellringer, Mr' Taylor said he was much struck with the progress that had been made by the port, which reflected great credit on the members of the board. He recognised that! the progress of the pert was a great factor in the prosperity of the whole district.
