BIBLE PHOPHESIES

THE EIGHT EVENTS. There was again a good attendance J at the Medina tea rooms last night, when Pastor Harvey continued his series of addresses on Bibical prophecies. Several solos and a duet were sfung, one solo given last Sunday being repeated by request. Pastor Harvey invited local singers to help the services with solos, and said requests for repetition of solos Would be gladly acceded to. Pastor Harvey spoke on the subject of the eight events which were prophesied to occur before the second coming. These events were as follows: I The Gospel going to all the world; II the dark ages; 111 the sun darkened; IV the moon darken-

ed; V stars falling; VI the nations jn .perplexity; V. 1.1 tho seas 1 , roaring; VIII men afraid. The speaker quoted Matthew XXI.II v. 34 tu ;)9. "Therein Jesus spoke, of something that would happen in the. current generation, and in forty years J Jerusalem! (ran 'with, blood,, many thousands were killed and other thousands went into captivity.

A SIGN. In Luke XXI v. 20 Jesus gave his people a sign to enable them to escape from the< sack of Jerusalem. Josepbus told us that true to p l '°- iph.eey, Jerusalem {was "compassed with armies", that the armies withdrew for 31 years and that in the ultimate sack of the city one Christian was killed, tliey having previously vacated \l,he city. In Matthew XXIV v. 3 the disciples asked Jesus what would be tho sign

of his coming, and Jesus replied (v. 14) that the Gospel should be preached to all the world, and then should the end come. It could truly bo said that to-day tho Gospel was preached throughout the world. The speaker's own church was only a small body but it had strong churches in Ifceland, Russia,, Japan and the Straits of Mazellan. Matthew XXIV v. 21 spoke of "great tribulation'', similarly to Daniel and Revelation. The tjribulation commenced in the year 638 and continued for 120!) years, bringing us to the datie. 1708. There was a promise that, the days of tribulation would be shortened, and by the efforts Luthen, Melancthon, tho Elector of Saxony and others had come to pass, so that tho last year of tribulation was 1775.

THE SUN DARKENED

Matthew XXIV v. 29 stated that

immediately alter the tribulation tho sun and moon should be darkened and stars fall from the heavens. On May 19th, 1780, the sun was darkened from 10 a.m. to midnight of the following day. There was no eclipse due at the time and scientists could not account for the phenomenon. When the moon shone again at midnight it was as a ball of blood, as stated in Hevciation VI. v. 12. In 1833 there occurred an aweinspiring fall of stars. The speaker proceeded to trace the other events prophesied, in recent, history, and asked could Atheism face the prophecies and say they were not true? The Bible told us that those who saw the eight events would see the second coming, but nobody could tell the hour (Matthew XXIY., v. 36"). There were those

who laid down a certain date, as the RussiUlites named the year 1874. It was a. fact that the Christian- church to-day had (X)l7~uTvT»ions,. but at second coming there would only be two classes —tine saved and the lost.
