NARROW ESCAPE ON MT. EGMONT
Two Stratford youths who climbed ML Egmonfc yesterday had a narrow je&cupe from death. When on the downward journey they
glissaded on the snow and soon found it impossible to pull themselves up. In their downward rush they lost their ice axes aud thus wore powerless to do anything) to stop (.themselves. After travelling about 2000 feat
they came into some soft snow
which stopped them) and it wail only tills that saved them from bje'ing. .(Hashed! on to the rocks.
