FIRE BRIGADE MATTERS
THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE. (Contributed). Tho biennial conference and demonstration of. Fire Brigades is held this year at HokitiEa, on the West Coast of the South Island, and almostl every brigade in the Dominion will be represented there. It is a most interesting and l instructive time, to winch, all who are fortunate enough Jo get away look forward.. There, all troubles and, difficulties of the past two years are fought «#ut, and m every instance t! ):> conference finishes in the most friendly and fraternal! spr-tit. It is an: education to all, es. pecially young members.. COMPETITION WORK.. The competition work of men who have been at it for a considerable number of years is an inspiration to any who take an interest in lire fighting methods. Some of the best men of tho country attend these demonstrations and their work is worth going a very long way to watch. Our local brigade has entered a team, who have been practising continually for the last 3 months and their work is by no means a disgrace to them. !lt is a tiring job", the continual practise, but it ; is surprising how lit and how keen they get and there is little doubt that when they return they will not be last on tho list-. HONORARY MEMBERS. Our brigade recently nut out circulars requesting Hon. Members' subs and quite a number of the townspeople availed themselves of the oppcr- ! tunity of assisting the financial pos_ ; itiou by becoming lion, members. Wo | thank them sincerely. The funds thus J accumulated will greatly assist, in meeting the expenso of sending our team away. Hon. times welcome to attend our monthly meeting and enter int.) discussions far tho betterment of all thing s generally.. Meetings are held on Tuesday night, every four weeks.
