Mr. David Caird, of Pareora HVe.s has had an experience with his shoe which is somewhat unusual, in thi last year he had two ewes in ly Southdown stud flock which lam.be twice, in one season (states the, T maru Herald"). Both ewes lambe< on June 6, each having a ram lamt On December 22 of the same yeai both ewes lambed' again, on© givin birth to a "ram lamb and the other t twin lambs —a ram and a ewe. Thu from two ewes Mr. Caird got fivi lambs in one season. A}l the lamb have grown wellj "and are' stilt to b seen on Mr. Caird's faW at Pare oral West. , "■ . ' ■east;- ' Otwimg to the abnormally wel spring, followed by a too abundant supply of feed, especially; on the*hilly country, where farmers have beei unable to place cattle to eat down the lambs this season aw later in fattening off for the works, with the result that there have, been smaller drafts than was the .date last season. One stock agent informed a Napier Telegraph teportei that he had found lambs off flat country which had passed 'through
his hands in excellent condition, but lambs in the high lands' were hackward, in topping off.

I , '"'. :',V COMMUNITY HOSPITAL SYSTEM At a recent meeting of the council of the New Zealand branch of tho British Medical Association, the following remit from the Poverty Bay Division was. submitted by Dr. W. J. Johnston:—"That in the opinion of 1 the division -Ehe Government should send to America a commission consisting of (a) a member of the Health Department,* (b) a superintendent of a group I lbsplM~; (c) a superintendent of a group 2 hospital, to investigate the administration of the community hospital' systenu Alter a short discussion it was resolved: "That as strong representations have already been made to she -Government by the association &'■ support of the system ajti the time of Dr. M..
