TIMBER WORKERS STRIKE MAY EXTEND
MINISTER’S APPEAL IS UNANSWERED
UNION FACES FINANCIAL TROUBLES. LEVY SYSTEM NOT SUCCESSFUL (Received 11-20 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. jTh.o extension of the fight in the timber worker's’ strike is feared.
No reply has been received by the Federal Minister* for Industry, Mr Latham, to the appeal which he issued*.
Grave fears are held among trade union officials that tlfe hopes of financing the struggle will not be realised. It is believed that the levy system will not operate successfully, as increasing numbers of members of allied unions are being thrown out of employment. —Australian P.A.
