KOHURATAHf SHEEP FAIR,
FARMERS’ CO-OP REPORT,
One of the best shfcep fairs that lias been held in. Taranaki for many years wais conducted by the Farmers’ Co-op at Koluiratahi, yesterday. Considerably more, numbers cam© forward than were advertised and every pen in the ya/r(r,'i including tihcl catil« pens, wore filled to overflowing. Tliei majority of the yarding consisted of particularly good 4 and o year old l e.wesT including some of thb best well-known annual drafts in the district. There was a particularly strong team of buyers in attondance, many coming from south of Waver ley and from all parts of Taranaki, and bad there been double the number of sheep yarded, they could easily have been absorbed.
Right from the routine,’ucement it was evident tlpit high prices were to be the order of the day, and with the execeptioh of fifty old/ ewes, every lot in the yard changed hands at prices which must be exceptionally satisfactory to the vendors.
Extra good early shorn 4-year old ewes made to 33s 4 ocl to 33s 6d|; 4 and 5 year old ewes 29s to 325; fiat wethers 32s 2d; 2-th wethers 29s to 30s 8d; best 2-th ewes to 4jls 6d; others 395," 40s; 4 and G-th. eves 375,; Wethers lambs i9s to 235; forward lambs 21s to 245; extra, good mixed sex lambs 20s 6d. A special train arrived in Stratford from Kohnratahi this morning-, with 41 trucks from this Farmers’ Co-op sheep fair, held at Kohnratahi 'yen erday, and a further 17 trucks will ho brought forward by the usual train to-morrow morning. The fact that buyers as far south as W a verier were able have tlfair sheep on them farms -within 24 hours fro'm the time c,f pujrchas© hit KoMratJaihf speaks volumes for the organisation of the Railway Department.
