GRASS TRACK RACES. A fair crowd or spectators gathered at Victoria rura last evening lor tne fuk grass tracK races under me auspices of tue Strauoi-d Cycle Club. Tue events were a Half-mile and a three-mile, but as the former was run in two heats and a final, over an hour’s racing was provided. The officials were: Messrs K. Kershaw. starter; Ft Bodle and T. Kirkwood. judges; R. PenniaU. marksman and reieree; J. Corlett, timekeeper; W. Eagar, handicapper. Following are details of the events: Half-mile. —First heat: K. Donnelly (65yds) 1, E. Stockman (40) 2 j. Crockett (65) 3. Time. Imm 13 3-ssec. Second heat: D. Coleman (75) 1. M. Nicholl (75) 2, D. Wheeler (75) 3- Time > lmitt lssec " Final ‘ Donnelly 1, Crockett 2, Wheeler 3, Time, Imin Issec. The final provided a splendid race. Crockett and Wheeler put in a strong challenge, but Donnelly ran home a winner by half a wheel, wheels separating the other placed men. Three-mile. —E. Stockman (200 yds) 1. C. Reid (200yds) 2. P. 2 There were ten starters, but only the placed men finished. The finish was a close one. Further races will be Held on Vic toria Park on Tuesday next, and races will be continued weekly while the weather is favourable. ■
