FROM “POST” SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT. , TOKO. A gang of Maoris have been weeding crops at Toko, and the farmers are very well pleased with their! work. In their leisure hours the Maloris systematically began to clear the creeks of eels, which provided them with some delicious meals. Plums and other such fruit is plentiful in the country at the hack of Toko. Mr J- Griffiths, of Toko, was but exercising his trott'er when it slipped on the asphalt, (breaking the, two shafts of the gig. Mr Griffiths was thrown cut, hut was not injured. Mr Bischeno, headmaster of the Huir'oa school has been transferred tio Urenui. Mr Wimseft, of Ohura, will take his place at Huiroa school, Mr Pepper, who has been absent from Toko for some months on account icf illness has returned to his work 011 the railway. Mr C. Sadler, of Toko, has been ill for a few days, but is now better. The County Council has been busy round Toko tar-sealing the Toko Road and cutting hack willows on the edge of the road at the entrance t 0 the town.
