The course and appomments were in splendid order. Mr A. Sandiliiuds, stipendiary steward, was present, but found nothing to quibble at. The secretarial staffs under Mr E. P. Webster, secretary, did their work well, and Jhe president, Mr L. A. Npllan, vico-presldepat, Mr JUs MacLeod, and) the stewards and committee were assiduous in looking after . the enjoyment of visitors.

In the principal event, the Christmas Handicap, there was a field °f nine. It was a splendid race, and Orazone, who is always well placed, won by licljf /a flbngth from jM’inrf Leaf and Wend ay. Manly went out favourite, with Mint Leaf and Wenday- Well Orazone being not so well favoured. At the half mile Anola fell, but his joc’-ey (Holland) escaped! injury. The Warden , won the T© Atiawjv Oup, after doing a circuit of the course before tho race. He took the leacT as soon as the field settled down and went on to win by three-quar-ters of la length.

Won by three parts of a/ length, with half a length between second and third. Time, Imiii Slseo, Royal Acr© was fourth. Tikorangl Hack Stale ep, five fur-* longs.—l Gold LLwii 1,2 Argue 2, 4 Owairaka 3. Also started—lo Rotokare, 6 Annoyer, 7 Merxcis, 3 Rfllett, 5 Tamatore, S'' Oorwen, 8 Airdale.

Winner trained by W. F, Mantle, Non* Plymouth. Won by two lengths, with a length between second and third. Time, 1m n 3sec. Flying 'Handicap (open), six fur-i longs.—B Paul Lucerne 1,2 Monaghan 2, 1 Te Atiawa 3. Also started—. 6 Hie Swell, 9 Whonuanui, 5 H.po, coupled with Nastovi, 4 Seas'l rr, 3 Takntama, 7 Juillnre, 10 Joke Form. Winner trained by J. T. Wade, Stratford. Won by half a length, with half a length between second and third. Time, Imin losec.
