PEMBROKE ROAD.
ITh,o annual breaking-up tea and prize-giving was held at the Pembroke Road Hall an Thursday. The I tables were tastefully decorated with i coloured streamers, flowers and greens, and were, loaded with good things to eat. Before distributing the prizes, Mr. Belcher, chairman of the School Committee, took the opportunity of congratulating the teachers (Mrs, Mae-
Aloon and Miss Leach) and scholars? on the excellent work done during the past year. .Every child in the school had passed to a higher standard. There were two candidates for proficiency and both got through, and it was something that both teachers and scholars should be proud of. The, prizes .were then, given out as follows: I

Standard 4: Ollga :Aa(?aard, Isar belle Cuthbert, Malcolm Belcher, Vernon Mander, Cordon Scott, Ernest Widmer. Standard 3: Mary Scott, Rota Si|mpns., Ruby Christensen, Violet Christensen, Clifton Mander.
Standartl 2: Nesta Belcher, Andrew Aldridge, Leslie 'Green, Percy Vincent*

A special prize donated by Mrs. Outhbe.rt for the child making themost progress during the year was j won by Brian Jeffaries, and the special prize for sewing, by Rita Simons. Full attendance prizes donated by Mrs. MacAloonj were given to Douglas Mayenberg, Nesta Belcher, Joseph Belcher, and Henry Ashcroft. Hearty support they gave financially. The children tlien gave tliree hearty cheers for the teachers, after which, they were all given a bag of sweets and nuts.

' The children, then had several dances, after which the adults took the floor. The dance music was supplied by Mrs, Gooch and Mr. Belcher, Mr. Aldridge making an efficient M.C. PERSONAL. •. Mrs. G. Hucker, who has been staying with Mrs. R. A. Belcher, has returned to her home at Tariki. Miss Crofts (Christchurch) daughter of Mr. Joe Crofts, formerly of Stratford, i 3 the guest of Mrs. W.
