TEASSEEKS AND PROMOTIONS. KO TARANAKICHANGES. WELLINGTON, Last Night. Thy. fo/Upwhig (promotions juid trausiers in tue police force were announced to-day by the Commissioner of Police, Mr W. B. Mcllveney. .

Sub-inspector J. Pahey, of Dunedin, has been promoted to the rank of inspector. Senior-Sergeant J. Cummings, of Auckland, has been promoted to subinspector and transferred &o Dunedin. Senior-Sergeant J. J. O'Grady, of Newton station, Auckland, takes charge of Auckland central station. Sergeant M. Flanagan, of Mt. Eden station, Auckland, has been appointed to the -grade °£ senior-sergeant and takes charge of Newton station. Detective-Sergeant "W. J. Butler), of Napier, has been appointed to the gflwle of senior-a&rgeaut aoc© transferred to Wellington. Detective T. Fitzgibbon, of Hastings, replaces De-tective-Saroreant Butler at Napier, Dotoct'ive B. Farquaharson being transferred from Dunedin to passings. Constable T. Campagnolo, of Epsom station, Auckland, has been promoted to sergeant and will remain at Auckland. . Detective J. K. Robertson at Whangarei, has been promoted to the rank of detective-ser-geant, Constable J. Edwards, of Hunterville, has been promoted to the rank of sergeant and transferred to Auckland.

Constable W. H. Simister, at present on loan t'o the Cook Islands administration for police duty alt Rarotonga, has been promoted to the rank of sergeant.

Detective H. NuttaU, of Tima.ru, has been promoted to tiie ranJrof do> tlective-sergeanit and transferred to Dujiedin. Sergeant J. Fitzgerald, of Freeman's Bay station, Auckland, has been transferred to take charge of the Thames statical, replacing Sergeant McDonnell, who has retired. Detective L. Stu'Jholme, of ChrisKchurch, replaces Detective-Sergeant Nuttall at Timaru.

The promotions will take effect as from January 1, and the transfers will bo effected as soon as possible.
