PROPOSED AERO CLUB.
TO THE EDITOR Sir.—Mr J. B. Richards, the chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, was not very encouraging when speaking of the proposal to form an Aero Club From the published report of bis nomarks one could be parcloned for presuming that he belongs to the old slow-moving school, the characteristic of which is to wake up and got very busy after th© event. He appears to be graciously pleased! to permit the science of aercnaut.es to develop as much '»b It desires, without let or hindrance on his part, and for that, no doubt, wo owe him felxauks; (but no progressive can agree with him that the formation' cJF an Aero Club would ho “fluff”. The trend of the present day is to organise opinion on all nmt-- ; tors —to pjither together persons who think alike for the forwarding of different movements. There ar© many reasons why Stratford would appeal as au air station, and. even wanting those reasons there is up- reiison why its claims should not be put' forward strongly; and the proposed club would have th© effect of making Stratford! ready for any development which may eventuate. For instance, if tiie club had been in existence before the last meeting of the Chamber of Commerce, the president would id tall probability hav© been in a position to supply Mr Thomson with the information h© required as to the dimensions. of an aeroplane field. It is encouraging to see the, work Mr Thomson is doing in the matter of finding a site for a suitable field, and may hope that an Aero Club will be formed shortly, to help Mir Thomson and 1 the Chamber. I am etc., FORWARD. Stratford, December 7th. W2S.
