An engineer has worked out a scheme for a seven-feet gauge electric railway linking up London with Paris via a Channel tunnel. It would follow an entirely new route from England to France. It would enter the Channel neai Dover and emerge at Wimeroux. " The Channel tunnel, including II miles of approaches, would be fortyfour miles long. »
Trains weighing 550 tons, drawn by electric locomotives, would attain a, maximum of 120 miles per hour and an average of ninety-two. They would complete the 253 miles journey in 2 hours 45 minutes. The estimated cost is 100 millions. Australian P.A.—United Service.
