One fanner who has madot jndicous use. of top-dressing, lias increased the. carrying capacity of his farm ing the past 12 months by a sheep to the acre. On his property of 50-acres he has wintered 400 ewes, and recently docked 120 per cent, of lambn. In all 80 ewes produced twins, and these have been . separated? Shearing is now general throughout' the district, and some of the early sheds have already been cut out. Reports to hand from these, sheds. are very reassuring. The sheep have pome through the 'winter exceptionally well, and losses have been light. It' }n expected this season's clip,will be the best in the district for some years. UNRECORDED CASE.
A case posihly hitherto unrecorded in the Dominion has been reported of children having four great-grand-mothers and two great-grandfathers living, as. well as grandfathers -and grandmothers. The, children are Raymond, Monica and Audrey Jepson, of Bunnythorpe. The ages of the' four; great-grandmothers total 314 years and those of the greatgrandfathers 166 years? The greatgrandmothers, are: Mrs. W .Bayliss, 81 years of age, of Palmerston, North- Mrs. E. J. Martin, 78 smxs of age, Foxton; Mrs. -E. Cleveley. 75 yearn of age, Bunnythorpe- The. great-grandfathers are: Mr. E. J. Martin, 88 years, of Foxton • and Mr. E. Cleveley, 78 years, of Bunnythoi'pe. PLEASANT SURPRISE. A pleasant surprise awaited Mr. Olutha Mackenzie on the occasion of the visit of the blind boys' hand to Oama.ru, when the Mayor, Mr. Frank Crawshaw, announced Jk hequest of £2300. to the Jiifeifte Institute for the Blind. A labouring man, single, known as "Tiger* Hall, of Herbert ,whos<S death occurred recently, accumulated £13,000, and m his will he left £2OOO each to the.
