A man named Kowe, a resident ot the Eltham district, was admtited toj 'the Stratford Hospital yesterday, suffering from an injury to one of his legs. Mr Logan Brown, of Inglewood, was admitted tqi the Stratford Hospital to-day as. a result of cuts received when his car. overturned when an endeavour was being made to pass a lorry on Mountain Koad, ne.ar liiglej Overseer A. (*. Buteme.nt, of the I Public Works. Department, arrived in 'Stratford from Waikaremoana yesterday, and proceeded to the Strat-ford-Main Trunk railway works, where ho will take the place, of Overseer J. N. T. Cherry. The latter has been transferred to the Tawa, Flat railway deviation works, and left for Wellington a few days ago.

Fire Brigade committee last night, it was decided, that steps should be. taken at an early date to raise fund.s in! ■order to sendl a team to- the Fire Brigade competitions at Hokitika in 'March next.
