RABBIT BOARD
WHANGAMOMONA MEETING
At a meeting of the Whangamomona district. Rabbit Board held on Monday* Messrs NV R. Cleland (in the chair), W. L. Kennedy, Harris (Inspector ctf 'Stock), M. Ford and E. B. Roherton were present. The rabbfferGs; ihporb for llbd( months of August, September and October showed that in the Whanga County, during August, 10 rabbits had been killed, in /September, 23, and in October 31. a. 'total of 61, During the rabbiterbs inspection of Mohokatino Station in August, where ten days were spent, 3 rabbits hud been accounted for. —Received. r J'he chairman then welcomed Mr Harris as a member of the Board 1 , and hoped that the same -pleasant relations would exist between them, as between Mr Took and the >)th;eH members during Shis tenn on the Board. Mr Cirri s returned thanks for the welcome expressed by the chairman. . The district rahbiter, Mr W. Kerr; waited cn the Council, asking tlfaf) extra allowance he granted' ll'im t<> enable him to keep a larger number of dogs and horses for the rabbiting work, as with the small number hf animals he now had at bis disposal lie 'found he could not cope with the work. Mr Kennedy considered Fha+l thiej request was reasonable and l should be acceded to. Mr Harris said that the rahbiter wag covering about twice the area which rribbiters on the Ehst Ooaisti were usually placed in charge of. Mr Kennedy suggested that an increase of one shilling per day in his': wages should be made to recoup him for extra outlay on dogs and horses, and a. resolution to this effect' was carried. Since the Board’s inception (in July 1926) the-total number of rabbits destroyed was 304. It w!us decided to> hold the next meeting of‘ the Board in February
