MONTHLY XEETIKG.

INCREASING DEMAND. : The monthly meeting of the Taranaki Power Board was held in Eltham yesterday. Present: Messrs H. G. Carman (chairman), W. ■H. Were, R. J. Khuckey, C. E. McGuinese, J." T. Belcher, J. Dobson: I T. R. Anderson and C. Foreman. The resident engineer (Mr. B. H. Goldsmith) reported as follows: The number of consumers to date is 1721, and 10 further installations are. authorised or are in hand. Units generated during October totalled 617,800, the maximum demand of 1296 k.w's. occurring on the 16th. Th e largest daily output of 21,400 units occurred on the 30th. (..Ahuroa Road east' has been livened up and the consumers on this road are now receiving supply. Ahuroa Road west poles and wire havfc been erected, but the services have not yet been run. Transformers for this road, which were due in. September, have not yet arrived. This lin e can be livened up as soon as they come td hand. Two k'v'a transformers have been erected and livened on the "VVaitui line. Low tension lines have been extended on Stadish, Monmouth, Opunake, Bristol and Climie Roads.

The finance committee detailed the Board's financial position as follows:—The power fund at last meeting was in debit to the extent of £6360, but' receipts during the month amounting to £4253, less accounts to pass £2547, left the overdraft standing at £4655. The loan, account showed a credit balance o£ £132 at last meeting. Since then £648 was received and the total of accounts t'o pass amounted to £733. Thus the credit was reduced to £4B. The S,tratford loan account stood as at the previous meeting with a credit balance of £256.

Mr I. J. Bridger wrote asking for the following particulars:—(l) The number of ratepayers and others in the borough of Eltham wno pay the availability rate without any credit by way of current consumed; (2) the total amount of revenue to be collected from such; (3) the total amount! payable by Eltham residents under the availability rate; (4) the total amount 1 of revenue other than rates prod oed. by Eltham residents. Any resolution? asked the chairnmn - \ ."■■!. Mr Dobson: Is there any objection to supplying the figures? The chairman: No. I take it Mr Bridger wants these figures for the public meeting he has been £Oing to call for some time. The secretary was instructed to supply the figures as requested.
