ENGINEER'S REPORT. The Engineer (Mr J. W. Spence) presented l the following report nt Saturday's meeting of th e , Stratford • County Council: North Riding.—During the past month the edges of the bitumes on the Mountain Road near Wiiilpuku have been built up with tar grouting. This lias bad the effect of widening the road! surface'and reducing tlie excessive camber. .Metal-patcb(in.a] has been carried out on the Stanley, Cardiff, Pembroke and Denbigh Roads. The sides'fare being scarified, the centre rounded up and rolled. An old wooden culvert on the York Road caved in and has been replaced with thirteen twelve-inch concrete pipes. • : South Riding.—Metal-patching has been done On the Skinner North and south, Cliniio and Solo Roads. A light coat of finely-crushed metal has been placed on part of the Pukengailni Road. The surface had beccme very rough owing to napped metal being used when first metalled. Crushed shingle has been distributed on the Bird, Wingrove, "Waihapa, Chen,]), Climie and Mountain Roads for bitumen-blinding during the com-

Several corners on the Ohura-Mangaehu have been widened with crushed sh.ellrock, blinded and rolled. The side track in front of Mr Bredow's property haljii been metalled and rolled. The approaches to the bridge over the Makuri Stream Ohura-Mangaehu Road, have been rriadb ujy with sand-stone and metalled, ,-. .

Water-tabling has teen done on the Kota, Akflma, part Makuri and DougUs North, Portions of thp, latter road have been crowned up with sandstone. West Ricjij^g.—Where necessary on the Opunake No. 1 Road the bitumen surface has b3en blinded. Tw 0 stumps close to tho formation have been removed and a. culvert on Opunake No. 2 extended. On the former road tho overhanging fern \iix\ [scrub have been cut and th« bank on one of the corners has been trimmed to an even batter.
