sion. ! When finally boiled down j the actual fund amounted to I 5,500, but so many people contributed towards trackiV - ing him that the apportioning of the reward became a difficult task. ".’j The final solution was that a. com--mittce of business men took charge ■and' secured agreements from everyone concerned that they would abide by the decision of the committee. Then' they announced awards to the two policemen who actually arrested] Mm of £I6OO each. The haberdasher who sold Hickman a hat and recognised the number on on© of Parker’s twenty-dollar bills, gets £SOO, while a similar amoua** went to the gasolene service station operator who sold Hiekman gas and carefully watched Ms route. —Australian Press Association United Service- 1
