WHANGAMOMONA.
On Saturday last a football match was to have been played between Tahora and Whanga, and a, large crowd! of enthusiasts had gathered before the news came through that the Tahora team were unable to make the journey. In the evening there was a fair gathering of young people in the Oddfellows’ Hall at a social and dance tendered to Mr Hopkinson, of the railway clerical staff, who has been transferred to New Plymouth. Mr Hopkinson took a great interest in football, and played with the local team during his brief residence here, so his fellow footballers and other friends took the opportunity of presenting him with a silver shaving mug as a mark of esteem. Mr h. Hathjaway acted as M.C. during the eveningThe euchre and ping pong evening was again well patronised on Tuesday, when the euchre went to Mr F. Hathaway and Miss E. Geever, and the ping pong honours to MV E. Clelatid. Mrs Gammodk has returned with her baby daughter. Mr AY. Partridge returned some weeks "ago from an extensive tour of the North Island.
