IMPORTANCE OP GATHERING.
WORK IN SECTIONS. United Press Assn.— By Electric Telegraph Copyright. (Received 9.45 a.m.) HONOLULU; August 13. The Australian and New Zealand delegates to the Pan Pacific Conference, when interviewed, expressed themselves as surprised and giatiiied by the number of countries represented, the size of the delegations, and the hospitality extended to them. A hundred and fifty women from a dozen Pacific countries are discussing various problems under the chairmanship of Miss Jane Adams. Mrs Rischberth said the conference was much larger and a more
serious affair than the Australian public realised. It was capable of tremendous results by creating understanding and sympathy among Pacific peoples, and mutually assisting in the solution of their problems.
. The Conference began it s work by sections, the Australian and New Zealand delegates taking a prominent part. Dr. Ethel Osborne, of Melbourne, is vice-chairman of the health section. Emily Chaplin, of New Zealand, is chairman of the education section, and Miss Muriel Swain, of Sydney, is vice-chairman of the woman in industry and professional sections. Mrs RischbaP.h, of Perth, is vice-chairman Of "Women in Government.” Mrs E. D. Amos, of Bundahurg, Miss Muriel Swain, and Mrs C. A. Fraer, of Christchurch, are Jimdtable leaders. ; Dr. Osborne and Mrs Fraer are members of thfe Resolutions Committee, while Mrs Rischbeith is a ’lumber of the continuation committee.— Australian Press Assn.
