ON A CLUE
DETECTIVES' EFFORT.
SYDNEY DOUBLE MUBDUB. SEARCH FOR MJSSING MAN, United Press Assn.—By Eleetric Telegraph Copyright (Received 9.15 a.m.) SYDNEY. 'Thi s Day.' Detectives are working strenuously upon the Marrickville double murder. They state they have a definite clue and are trying to locate the missing man. They have fairly reliable information as to his movements since the date of the crime. It is understood the Govevnmentfs reward is bearing fruit, and developments are expected shortly. A cablegram on July 1 said: Late last night two masked men drove a motor-cycle to a confectionery shop at Marrickville kept by Mrs Sarah Falvey and her sister. Miss Vaughan, both . elderly women, and attempted to rob the till.' The women screamed, whereupon one of the me n drew a revolver and shot both of them. Mrs Falvey was killed instantly, and Miss Vaughan died in hospital. A number Of people in the vicinity heard the firing and saw a man with a' smoking revolver running from the shop, but were unable, to capture him. Witnesses' stories vary, some s tating there were two men, others only one. Robbery was apparently the only motive of the crime.
