PROGRESS LEAGUE

MEETING OP EXECUTIVE. The executive of the Progress League, met last night when there were present: The Rev. Canon .Wuyll (in Ihe chair), and Messrs W. E. Williams, H. Barker, N. B. Fletcher. E. C. Members considered that the Hospital Board might have made an investigation of the position. It was also considered advisable to inquire what action, the friendly societies are taking in the matter. The secretary reported that the general committee of the S.T.A.A. had been impressed by Mr Nichol's suggestion for a broadcast regarding Taranaki beauty spots and intended taking action. . In reference to the Town Hall it was decided that as the Borough Council had taken the matter in hand further . consideration be deferred. ....'. Mr Kay and the secretary were appointed to collect all possible information relative to the present incidence of taxation as affecting Hospital Board levies and report to next, meeting. It was decided to wr' f e to the Borough Council drawing attention to the dangerous nature of the Pembroke Road railway crossing, with a suggestion that they approach the Railway Department with a view to having a wig-wag signal erected. Mr Flecther stated that it had been pointed out'to him that it was not possible for farmers', to .obtain prices of goods landed at their doors.
