DRUG DEALING
CHEMIST FINED SYDNEY, Juno 12. Herman Paul Sabicl, chemist, of Sydney,, was before the Central Summons Court to-day on four charges of dealings in drugs. He pleaded guilty, and was fined £lO, with 8s costs, oh each charge, or one month's imprisonment. Sabiel was charged with having supplied morphia to Mrs C. W. Little ; tincture of opium! to Laura J\'<r'\ardsoii; and cocaine to John Laing Martin MeCreadie. The fourth charge Avas of having failed to keep a record of all drugs manufactured. prescribed, or supplied by him or on his behalf, contrary to the regulations. Ti'spccior T. FJ. Robinson said tint between November 30 and May 21 Nurse Richardson was supplied with 2720 z. Of tincture of opium. Drugs were BUprJied on notes of paper, which were not prescribed in any shape or form. Tliern-verc drugs on the premises that had not been recorded. Mr C. R. Pennv (counsel for defendant elicited from Mr Robinson that originally the drugs were supplied under medical direction. "You cannot stop an addict from getting the drug," soul Mr Robinson. ''They know no law." "I "know that," replied Mr rerry, "They would take out an eye to gain it."
