FROM "POST 1 ' SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT. KOKURATAHI. •■ June IS. —Welcome, warm rain has been falling for the last three, days. Grass is plentiful, and on present indications fanners will hjwe no difficulty in wintering their stock. Football is the chief topic of interest .among the young men of the district, and in this it might be said they are ably supported by a good number of our men exponents of the game, who are still willing to give valuable advice. Tbe Marco Road School Committee has commenced ping-pong and euchre parties at *he school. These evenings are proving very attractive, 'players coming from Tahpra and WhangaMr. J. Smithies and Miss M. Bacon won the ping pong, tournament last Wednesday evening while the euchre prizes were won by Mrs. Dean and Mr. Fred Ostler. The euchre party held fortnightly in the Hall took place last Saturday evening, and the winners being Mrs. Bridgman and Mr. Alf Jennings. Hurimoana Card party and dance draws quite a crowdI—nearly 1 —nearly ©yisry ecut was occupied on the last occasion. The winners were Miss Kopke and Mr. A. McOutchan, who played off with Mr. J. Roughan. Miss Downey held an afternoon at the school last Friday to enable parents and friends to come together and inspect the children's work- Quite a nice programme of songs, dialogues, recitations and drill was given, which was greatly enjoyed by all whc< attended. Great credit is due to Miss Downey and tq tho children, and we are all hoping that a fcdg concert will take place at a future date. Anglican service was held at the school by Rev v Alexander yesterday. * PERSONAL. With deep regret I have to report that Mr. and Mrs. Peterson (nee Hodder) have lost their eldest .son, Pae, who) passed away in the Taumarunui Hospital on Friday last. Our combined sympathy goes out to the bereaved parents in their sad loss. Mr. W. Hodge, of Hurleyville, has been visiting friends here. Mr. W. Nelson ha,s left to spend ;a holiday in Sydney. Mr. and Mrs*. Gower have returned from Waikato. Mr. and Mrs. West have returned from Hamilton. Mr Wbitelaw is at present relieving Mr. Dickie, of Kohuratahi Post Office. Mrs. Hull is spending li) holiday in Ashburton. Mrs. Flyntu and Mr. Q. Flynn left for Taumaranui by car yesterday.
