At its meeting yesterday the Stratord Jersey Breeders' Club decided to hold its annual meeting and smoke concert on July 17th.

About thirty members attended the meeting of the Combined Choirs held last night and six new members were elected. Rules which had been drawn up were discussed. Two choruses from "The Messiah" were practiced, a good showing being made. It is proposed to practice at least eight choruses from this work. Meetings are to be held every Tuesday evening. ~.,

Harley Hector Henderson, manager, and James Harold' Adam., ex-cleVk,' were arrested yesterday charged with theft from Messrs, Newton, King; Ltd., at Kaponga. . They appeared at the Eltham Court and,' were remand-' cd on. bail to appear at Elfcham on July 4th. The charge against Hender-' son was that lie stole £125 from his. employers on July 28, 1924, Adam was charged with the theft of £lO2 on April 15, 1926. ,

At Whangamomona on Mondliy several deputations were introduced to the Minister for Public Works (Hon. K. S. Williams) by the chairman of the Whangamomona County Council (Mr. N. R. Cleland). Pemiests were made for metal on the Marco and Mangere Roads, for •the linking up of the Rerclmpa and Kiwi Roads and the re-building of bridges on the Whangamomona Valley Road. In all cases the Minister made sympathetic x promises to investigate the position.

A s a result the vestibule enjoys ample natural light, and palm s and other plants in ornamental stands have very much added to its attractiveness. By the provision of comfortable seating, the vestibule lias converted into a lounge which is much appreciated by visitors.
