THIS WEEK’S MAIN ITEMS

MONDAY, MAY 28th. This evening a programme' of modern 'British vocal music will be presented at 2YA by the Ariel Singers. Many of the songs will be new td listeners. Elocutionary itemls will be given by Mr A. Stanley Warwick, and the studio orchestra will be heard in many fine selections. Silent day at IYA and 4YA.

TUESDAY,' MAY 29th. In the second half of this evening’s programme at IYA, excerpts (from Leoncavallo’s famous Vipcra “I Pagliacci” will be presented. Instrumental items will be played by the Auckland Trio- A further instalment of the lectures on Old New. Zealand 1 will be given by Mr A. ,B. Chappell. “The Montebanks”, a delightful song cycle concerning wandering minstrels who earned their board at the “Barley Mow” will be given at 2YA this evening. Orchestra selections, humour by Mr Doug. Stark and a brief organ recital by Mr ti. Temple White are also scheduled. The concluding function of the Christchurch Diamond Jubilee Celebrations will be a grand entertainment in the Concert Hall where there will be a special choir and orchestra, and the best local talent will be heard. This concert will bo broadcast by ‘JYA. At 1.0,30 the ringing of the Cathedral bells and the singing of “Auld Lang Syne”. WEDNESDAY, MAY 30th. A well selected and popular programme will bo presented this evening by the Auckland Municipal Band. Assisting the band will be a number of well known artists, while items from the studio will be given by Miss Phyllis Hazell and Mr Frank Sutherland.

A miscellaneous programme in which will bo found a number of’ little known songs as well as old favourites will he given by the Dulcet Quartet from 3YA this evening. Assisting artists will he the Studio Trio, Mr Harold Bock (’cello) and Mr E. N. Trenberth (Huge) horn). Silent day for 2YA and 4YA, THURSDAY, MAY 31st.

A programme of much variety will bo broadcast freon I.YA this evening Tho chief feature will bo Liza Lehmann’s delightful song cycle, “In a Porsihn Garden,” which will bo given in its eulirety by Mr Harry Coney’s Quartet, with instrumental accompaniment by the Auckland 1 Trio.

A band concert will ho given from 2YA. this evening. Mr Johannes Anderson, will give a lecture on “Native Birds.”

A programme of the works of American composers will be broadcast; from, 3YA this evening, the vocalists; being the Madame Gowor-Bimis’ Grand Opera Quartet.

FRIDAY, JUNE Ist. There will be two principal features on lYA’s programme this evening. One will bo flio presentation of Herbert Oliver’s “Our Pantomine” by the St. Andrew’s Quartet. Tin's song cycle should prove very entertaining to lovers of popular music. The other outstanding item on the programme will be a one-act play, “Campbell cif Kilmohr”, to bo produced; by tho Aucfvfand Comedy Player, s under the direction of Mr J. F. Montague.

Included in this evening''s programme at 2YA will bo Miss Gret. ta Stark’s rendering of “Lo, Hero the Gentle Lark”, with flute ■ obligato by Air Claude Tucker, of 2V A orchestra. Other voc.nl items will be given by the members of the Etude Quartet, “The Pagoda of Flowers” will be broadcast from 3YA this evening, with instrumental accompaniment by tho Studio Trio. SATURDAY, JUNE 2nd. The u ell known Lyric Quartet, assisted b v Ingall’s Hawaiian s, will provide the studio ontortaiumont this, evening at IYA. The popular Alelodio Four, tho studioi orchestra, Mr Lad Haywood and liis Italian mandolin, with Mr George Titchener, a versatile comedian, and tho Glad Idler s who have a humour all their own, will ho heard in an excellent programme from 21A this evening.

3YA’s Radio Vandcvillo for tins evening will be provided by Miss Mabel Thomas and Mi Dave McGill (who will sing selections from operas), Mr Herbert Smith (tin whistle, tluto and accordeon). Mr A. El. Dowell (popular baritone). Miss Elaine Moody’s Hawaiian Trio, the Studio Trio, Air .1. Hirch (elocutionist) and Airs D. W. Stallard (popular contralto).
