"FALLEN COMRADES"
N.Z, RIFLE BRIGADE. OVfcR 3000 MEN LOST. CHRISTCHURCH, May 18. The first reunion of members of the New Zealand Rilie Brigade was hold .’last night, Jelloco e Hall being crowded, Colonel A. E. Stewart, C.M.G., D.S.Oi, presided. After the loyal toast had been hou- . cured, the chairman proposed the totist of “Fallen Comrades, ’ of whom lie said there were 3000 of the Rifle Brigade, including its leader, Briga-dier-General H. T. Fulton.
The tosat of: “The Brigade” whs [proposed by Lie.ut-Oolouel. N. W. it. J 3. Thoms, chief staff officer of the Southern Command, who said he did not think that the “Huiks” during the war ever failed to get an objective. One could not think of the Rifle Brigade without thinking of 'General Harry Fulton. ' He was the father of it, and he made it. .Responding to the toast, the chairman said that they had no,Territorial regiments to carry on their traditions; they were memories. The brigade lost 3100 men. 'lt had two V.C.’s (Lieut. S. Erickletou and' Sergt. Laurent), and over 000 other ; decorations. k -
