ANNUAL MEETING. Mr. H. J. Kirk wo id presided over tiij third stiunmil inoel/fng of members. oi the New Zealand Sussex Club (North Island) held at Stratford last night. The annual report stated: The past season was a big, success and the Club's show at Stratford was a record in number and quality of entries. The English Sussex Club meaals were won by Mrs. C. Till for best adult bird and, Mr. P. E. Hunter for best young bird- and to these members wo offer our heartiest congratulations on their meritoldous wins their birds being of a very high standard. The utility specials donated by kind urctsy of Thos. Kirkwood wer. won by IVus. nil aim Mr. P. E. Hunter, their excellent type of birds again carrying all before them. There was is, special interest in the Club’s shown this year as the .English Sussex Club’s silver medals were being competed for for the first time in New Zealand. The winners, Mrs C. Till amd P. F. Hunter, are to bo congratulated on the excellent type of birdy exhibited. By the activities of tiie New Zddand Sussex Club and by the sheer merit of the Sussex fowl the breed is fast attracting the attention erf the poultry world throughout New Zealand and a very large number of new members have joined up this isaison. The Sussex Club’s show i. s this year being hold in conjunction with the Christchurch Poultry Show, and the North, island championship for the Sussex fowl have been granted to the Aucklhnd Club’s fixture. Members have stated their intention of competing, at both of these fixtures, and us an oxceptioß.illy large entry is assured for the Stratford Poultry Club s show in July, the 1923 scaison promises to be a most successful one, more especially us birds have been' imported from England! for both the North and South Islands. We desire to thank the committee, and especially Mr. H. J. Kirkwood and A. J. Davpy, who put in so much time with tire birds dur'i’/ig tha show. Breeders froin outside wish to specially thank these gentlemen for the excellent condition in which thrtir birds arrived home from the show.

Kirkwood; honorary treasurer, Mr. A. J. Davey; Excc.ntivei. Messrs. A. J. Davey, G. Hall, W. Civil non and E. Reed. Tli© construction of blocks, for .the club’s cicrtifiratbs was left in the hands of Messrs. Davey and H. J. Kirkwood.
