VOTES FOR FLAPPERS
MESSAGE FOR THE KINO. SCENE AT PALACE GATES. Press l Association—Copyright, Australian and N.Z Cable Assn. (Received 1f.20 a.m.) LONDON, Feb. 7. Four advance guards of the Flappers Vote battalion had a quiet passage to No. 10 Downing Street, where they delivered copies of a petition praying that the Bill be taken as the first measure of the present session, j They found that their approach to I Buckingham Palace was entirely | different. I “We would like to deliver a letter ! for the King,” said the leader, but the policeman at the main gate was courteously adamant, even after half an hour’s cojoling. Maidenly strategy then failed badly. Mis s Woodman re-engaged the constable in earnest arguments as a barrage for Miss Coutts —Trotter to storm the privy purse door. Another constable appeared from nowhere, slammed the door and gathered the struggling Miss Coutts—Trotter, and gallantly deposited her o n the street. The women then held council and decided to effect delivery in a more, prosaic way by messenger.
