QUESTION OF LEADERSHIP. RUMOUR CONTRADICTED. SYDNEY, Jan. 23. The published report that a move ihas been made by the "Reds" i n control of the A.L.P. executive in New j South Wales to have Mr Charlton, M.H.R., displaced from the leader'"ship of the Federal Parliamentary .'Labour Party, and Mr E. G. Theo'dore, M.H:R, former Premier of '•Queensland, appointed to the position, is.news to.Mr Theodore, mem-: *ber. for Dalley. \) "The statements are based on misinformation," said Mr Theodore today. "I have no knowledge of any •movement to displace Mr Charlton and secure my election in his stead. ]l have on several occasions made [my own position perfectly clear. I *do not regard myself as being specialty entitled to any leading position in the Federal Labour Party, *tnd though willing to take any post of responsibility, I am content to ,&\yait my turn, as every other memI'berof the rank and file is expected [to do., 1 .
"I strongly suspect that the statements with regard to the leadership, .and the section that i s supposed to' be behind the movement, are being made in an endeavour to create apprehension and dissension in the Labour ranks," added Mr Theodore. "KiITE-FLYING." "A bit-of A.W.U. kite-flying," was how the secretary of the Sydney Labour Council (Mr J. S. Garden) today described the stories of a move to depose the Federal Labour leader (Mr Charlton).
