' Although the weather in Canterbury, since the beginning of the year, has heen ideal for ripening crops and for harvesting '"■". operations, the dry spell has been so long continued that it is having a very adverse effect on feed for stock. Reports from all parts of the province are to the effect that moisture i s badly needed,, and although harvesting operations are how in full swing, a good fall of rain would,/be welcomed by nearly; every farmer. . | ■-■ Harvesting work has gone on with- j out interruption, and generally,; speaking, the prospects are for high; yield's and "good quality produce. I Rust and "take all" have appeared, i n some of the wheat crops, but on] .the whole there have been, no seri- | ous ravages by disease. Canterbury i 3 assured of a bountiful harvest, | .but rain within the next few days would help, 'to immensely improve | 'the prospects of the: province. 1
