LONDONi, February 2. r “The real Prayer Book issue is whether the Evangelicals wish to drive the Anglo-Catholics from the Church of England,’’ said Sir Henry Slesser when addressing the (Cathblic Literature Association. Sir Henry Slesser, who was formerly SoMcit'dr-iGeneral in the Labour' Government and the chief AngIflCatholic (Spokesman in the last Mbuse of Cbmmons debate, contended that the' reservation and adoration /of the Sacrament were inherent parts of the Catholic faith. “If Parliament forbids it we must abandon our (jathblic faith or abandon the Church of England,” he said. “We Catholics claim to be part of the Catholic Church 1 and we claim the right to cdildiiet ourselves according to Catholic tradition, including definitely the 'belief In the objective, real presence.” Sir Henry Slesser added that if the Church Assembly approves of the reseivihg Of the Sacrament in the Vestry, he ’will’ be compelled to oppose the Prayer ’Book Bill in the HouSe of Commons.
