He crashed into the last fence when be looked as if he would have troubled the winner, TroilliSi ♦ * * * Mr E. George’s Nastori completed a treble on Saturday at Wanganui by winning the Spring Hack as she won the Durio Hack Handicap on Thursday and the Waihau Hack on Friday. Nastori was ridden by R. Reed. » * « Brigadier Bill ran a much better race in the hurdles at Wanganui on Saturday than he did on Thursday, and evidently had improved greatly in the meantime. He won in easy ■style. On Thursday lie finished well back. « * * Knightlike, the winner of the Debutante Stakes at Wanganui on Saturday, is a fine looking colt by Paladin, and is owned by Mr A. B. Williams, and trained by J. H. Jefferd. He won like a good one, and promises to do well in the future. • • • The Stratford trained horses did not run well at Wanganui. Monaghan started in the Seafield Handicap and the Marangai Handicap on Thursday. in the Seafield Handicap ho did not get out of the ruck and finished tenth. The second start he was first into the straight, hut failed in the run to the post. * « The full brother to Tamatete, Freehold, was made a good favourite for the Debutante Stakes' at Wanganui on Saturday, but he got away badly. Thi s spoilt his chance of winning. * e * Royal Game tried to win the Higgle Handicap at Wanganui on Saturday, all the way, but after leading into the straight faded out of the picture, finishing well back. «• » ♦ Cohesion ran a good race in the Higgle Handicap at Wanganui and looks like winning a race soon. • » « It looks as if Laughing Prince will win some of the three-year-old classics, judging by the way he won the Eclipse Stakes at Wanganui on Saturday.
Beacon Light was given two runs at the Wanganui meeting, which should do him a lot of good, and he should he a much better horse next start. *» V *. Alloway looked a winner at the distance in the Higgle Handicap at Wanganui on Saturday, but Tresham came with a great run and just beat Mr L. G. Paul’s gelding by a head. * * * Star Stranger was given a run in the Eclipse Stakes on Saturday at Wanganui. He looked well, but the distance was not far enough. It should do the son of Martian a lot of good, however, in view of the Avondale Cup.
