"There i<s a real danger of a world economic breakdown," said Sir George Paish in a speech at the League of Nations summer school being hold at Oxford. "The world has never before been in debf. so deeply. Jf there is a break in, world unity such a>s many leading authorities fear, the result will he widespread starvation, leading to revolution. Tn such a contingency the loss of life may bo greater than in the war. "America is giving credit on a scale which cannot possiblv last, and the world's leading bankers are of opinion that a great crash must < ome unless she changes her financial policy."
