Sarwat Pasha, the Premier, making a, statement to ai crowded Chamber, said he regretted the AngloEgyptian misunderstandLng resulting in Britain presenting a Nolle (containing demands in connection with the army, frontiers and administration, expressing a desire for the continuance of a friendly understanding and inviting Egypt to negotiate with a view uj defining preliminary measures of co-operation.
Sarwat added that, the Note further, suggested an. interim agreement pending a preliminary agreement, hut the. Government, after careful consideration, had decided that the demands as a. whole diminished Egypt's sovereign rights and Parliamentary authority and infringed the Constitutional jaw. Therefore, K'gpy't was unable to accept it in the form in which it was submitted-
