Miss Humphries (Now Plymouth) is the guest of heii niece Mrs Hugh Good. Miss Hodgon (Palmerston North), who lias been staying with her sister Mrs Lyons, left for Palmerston on Tuesday. Miss Patricia Abraham left for Marton on Tuesday morning. Mrs A. Yariidley has returned from the Waikato where she has been visiting her mother. Mi«s Mortgiomery (Wanganui) is the guest of Mrs \V. If. Young. Mr and Mrs Leslie Curtis left for a motor trip to Napier on Saturday.

Mrs Dr. Steven. Mrs Hunt and Mrs Percy Thomson left on Thursday morning for Wellington en route for an extended trip to the Islands. They will be away for some months. Mrs S. Pitt gave an enjoyable bridge party qii Monday night- Those playing were Mrs Glasgow, Mrs Budge, Mrs Richards, Mrs Lyons, Mrs Les Curtis, Mrs Jeffries, Mrs Hall, Mrs Malfroy, Mrs Leary, Mrs Kay, Mrs Uniache, Mrs King. Mrs MeDowall entertained some friends at bridge on Monday night. On Tuesday Mrs Hugh Good gave a very nice bridge evening for her .guestj Miss Humphries (jN'ew Plymouth). Mrs Dixon gave a party on Tuesday afternon. Mrs Moore had a large gathering of "Rangers" at her residence on Tuesday night. Mrs Fredrie gave a bridge and mah jongg party on Tuesday night. Miss Squires gave a party on Wednesday. Mrs Furrie gave a very nice bridge party on Wednesday night. Those playing were: Mrs Jeffries, Mrs Geo. Hall, Mrs Malfroy, Mrs King, Mrs Pitt, Mrs Budge., Mrs Leary, Mrs Richards. Ihe hostess received her guests in a becoming gown of saxe blue velvet.. with gold beading. On Thursday afternoon, Mrs L>. Young, Miss Montgomery (Wangaimi), Mrs Pitt, Mrs Geo. Hall, Mrs Lynns, Mrs King, Mrs Bpence Airs II- Abraham, Mrs A. Yarndlev, Mrs Lenry, Mrs TJmacke. Mrs J B. Richards gave an enjoyable bridge evening on Friday A very enjoyable and successful entertainment'was held at the Avon Oroqiiet Clll h ° n Tuesday night. .1 he pavilion was for the tune converted into a charming drawing room with carpet, rugs and plenty of easy

chairs. The artistic decorations were carried out in mauve- and pale. pink, with many coloured Japanese lolnterns suspended outside. lne hostesses were: Mrs Burko wearing black silk and lace, Mrs Moore nigger brown silk moracain and rur trimming, Mi's Moon, satin, and moracain gold lace, Mrs Curd resida moracain and black silk coat, Mrs Beid, tabac taffeta, with jade overdress, Mrs Alger, black silk Miss Wemyss, fuchsia georgette and velvet trimming. Bridge and r*ve hundred were played. Those present were: Mr and Mrs Hoskin, Mrs Gibbons, Mrs Masters Airs Dickinson, Mrs White, Mrs Hardy-Jones, Mrs North. Tlio ladies' trophies wero won by 'Mrs Home'and Gibberd and tbc men's by Mi' Gibberd and Mr Bishop. A delightful supper was supplied by the hostesses after which Mr Homo gave some recitations and several competitions were indulged in. The promoters are to be congratulated upon their successful enterprise. Mrs H. Bishop save an enjoyable china evening last Thursday for Miss G-. A tack, who is shortly to be married. Those present were Mrs and Miss Curd, Mrs Bennett, Miss Betts, Misses Black (2), Miss K. Allen, etc. Miss Atack was the recipient of many beautiful gifts and good wishes. Much regret is felt by many at Miss laveriv's resigning from the post of Lvberrnrinn which she has filled no capably for some years. Afiss Laverty was always anfailing in Iter attention and courtesv to subscribers and she will be much missed. WJEDDING BELLS.

On Wednesday afternoon a large crowd gathered to sec Miss Murray's weddSlg, which was a very pretty one The bride with her attendant bridesmaids and flower girls looked very charming in a white crepe de chine frock with wreath and veil and large white bouquet. On leaving the church the bride and bridegroom walked under an archway ot Hags held by the Girl Guides,, with much blowing of their whistles and an avalanche of confetti and rice. Ihe reception was held afterwards at the bride's father's residence. The tables were beautifully decorated with white cosmos and aspargus fern Some thirty guests wero invited to partake of a very sumptuous supper or is it breakfast?
