I A/cPhee pleaded guilty, and Williams, hot guilty., • - - was given at length by Constable Chestuutt, defendant McPljpe., Walter Wiqkham, and defend-; apt',;Williams. \ • , ' , Xiie,, Court retired to consider its decision, and on their return if was anripuijced that it had been decided to , convict both defendants?' without fine; ' . Mr Kennedy said the Bench Vslrsired to draw the attention of the police to the posj-lbn of the children la,the case. , The Court thought the police should see the mother and see if some steps' could not be taken to put the children in proper cure. At present they seemed to he in .everybody’s and nobody’s charge. Sergeant Reid said inquiries : had already been started.
