SIDNEY, January 3 The weather was nne for the holiday and very hot, and the surf drew great crowds.
A boy named Mervyn Allum, agtd 15, was batning with other beys at Port Hacking when he was fct'iwd by a large shark, which stripped the flesh tram his leg and laseraoed tue lower part of his body. His companions drove the monster off and Alium was brought ashore, but died en route to the hospital, A HEROIO COMRADE. (Received 9.5 a.m.) SiUNEix, January 3. When the boy Alium was attacked by the shark a youtli, Stanley Gibbs, heroically went to the rescue, punching the monster until it released its hold, Uibbs commenced to swim to shore pushing the victom before him. The shark again attacked but was' beaten off by Gibbs until a boat arrived.
