THE CHRISMS SPIRIT

A CORN MARKET "RAG."' LONDON, December 22.' The spirir i Christmas has invaded Lonu .: ..tarkets such as the Stock Exchange and the Corn Market, where numerous "rags," which include letting off fireworks, are indulged in. A typical "rag" in the Corn Market cpmmenced with an explosion of first crackers, which was the signal for someone to produce a football when a tumultuous call of "Rugger, Rugger," arose. Sides were quickly formed, and soon several hundred staid business men were chasing the ball around the market until it was lost among the rafters. Scores of sampl.e bags of corn were thrown to dislodge the ball, which suggested a snowball fight among the members with bags' of corn as missiles, while older members protested in vain. Nothing worse happened than the breaking of windows and gas globes, while hats were kicked to pieces.
