MANUFACTURERS' RESOLUTION. CHRISTCHURCH, October 15. After an address by the Secretary of the Department of Industries and Commerce upon the value of standardisation in industry the New Zealand Manufacturers' Federation adopted the following motion last night: "That with a view to greater efficiency and bringing the quality of New Zealand manufactures to the highest possible standard it be a recommendation to manufacturing associations to get in touch with the I'arious trade bodies and ask them to [consider the questions of specialisation, standardisation and organisation." The Federation did not approve of the following motion from Auckland: "In order to encourage trading within the Empire this Federation recommends that the income tax regulations be amended so as to provide a differential scale of taxation, based on the percentage of New Zealand, of British and foreign goods used in trading."
