A message from Elizabeth, New Jersey, states that bandits .to-clay held up a mail truck in the hear,t of the business district, although it was under police escort. 'One policeman was killed. The bandits escaped with a pay roll of 160,000 dollars. ,' MUCH SHOOTING BUT LITTLE BOOTY, .oil LONDON, October 13. A man entered a bank at Liverpool, held up the staff AVith a revolver and when the cashier attempted to prevent him taking some silver from the counter he fired. The cashier was seriously woiinded and the theif dashed : into the street mirsued by the bank manager calling: "Stop thief!" A crowd joined in the chase, and the thief fired point blank at two men who were both wounded. A policeman, ■who attempted to fell him with his baton, was also wounded, but eventually the man was arrested. Examination at the bank showed that only a few shillings had been stolen. 1..,.
